Stump Lake
Stump Lake is located 40 km South of Kamloops and 40 km North of Merritt along the old Princeton Kamloops Hwy ( Highway 5A ) The lake is 11km long and sits amongst the rolling hills of the Nicola Valley Grasslands. The area is rich in wildlife and offers home to many species of birds, waterfowl, deer and even the iconic species of fish known as the famous "Kamloops Trout" .
Stump Lake is home to several residents and offers year round access and recreation to its many visitors. The lake also includes The Stump Lake Guest Ranch, a working cattle ranch on the North end of the lake. No boating restrictions

Stump Lake is thought to be a comparably new lake. The Indigenous people of the area have said that at one time, there was no lake there at all. Stump Lake is named for the stumps of the former forest that can be seen through the water. It is important in local native history as one of the original settlement sites of the alliance of Okanagan and Nlaka'pamux people today known as the Nicola people.
